DOROTHY PAINTINGS
The Dorothy Paintings
A random find of a 1960’s “Wizard of Oz” coloring book, along with my love of Italian fresco painting, inspired the Dorothy paintings.
I chose to paint Dorothy on a heroic scale and adjusted my palette to fresco hues.
I also choses to adhere fabric, pieces of tomboy flannel and kerchiefs, to form shapes and clothing, and for emphasis.
