Horizons

'Horizons" grew out of the Rainbow paintings. At some point, I decided I did not need the rainbow.

The rainbow however informed these paintings. I have always been a landscape painter, and one of my favoRite activities is to walk my dog Lucy on the beach after work.

The air, the light, the horizon blow through my brain and clear it. Back in the studio I lay down and arrange scraps of material by color, by shape, on a panel, feeling that emptiness and that fullness.

I add color and form with encaustic. Somehow, unintentionally, the paintings become horizons.
